Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Therapy Technology (SMARTT)

Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Therapy Technology (SMARTT)

Course Overview

The SMARTT program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy, physical rehabilitation, exercise physiology, and sports medicine. Students will gain valuable knowledge and skills in the diagnosis, assessment, prevention, and rehabilitation of bodily injuries and related health conditions.

Through the program, students will learn how to develop patient care plans, including assessment, evaluation, and interventions such as exercise, manual therapy, modalities, and neuro re-education. They will also learn how to set goals and create discharge plans for patients.

In addition to these skills, students will also gain an understanding of nutrition and how to develop proper diet plans for healthy individuals, as well as tailor diet plans for special populations.

Upon completion of the SMARTT program, students will be equipped with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to work as a Personal Trainer/Coach or Physical Therapy Aid. The program also provides a solid base for students to build upon if they choose to pursue a post-secondary degree or advanced certification in any of the related fields.
