Course Overview

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program provides students with a comprehensive education in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/R systems. Students learn a variety of skills, including piping, wiring, system installation and servicing, air duct fabrication, and ventilation system evaluation.

The program also emphasizes job-site safety, tool use, blueprint reading, and other fundamentals that are important in the HVAC/R industry. In addition, students have the opportunity to work with appliances from industry-recognized manufacturers and collaborate on projects that mirror real-world tasks.

This program offers a progressive learning experience, with first- and second-year students learning foundational skills and third- and fourth-year students tackling more advanced projects. Upperclassmen are encouraged to secure co-op positions with local companies to further develop their skills and gain practical experience in the field.
